Hello and good luck

Today we welcome a new member of the clan. Grace Rose Yorks arrived at 10:08 this morning, pointy headed and gorgeous. We're so happy for Toph and Anne, and our girls already love your girl. Smells BFF already.

We're also thinking about our neighbor Tom. Tom had his bone marrow transplant yesterday. Good luck Tom. We hope all is well and you're recovering.

The force of life never ceases to astonish me. Cut the grass this morning. Dumped the clippings into the compost and turned it. Upon turning it I found this amazing half eaten cob. Looked like the work of one of my girls. Eyes bigger than their stomach. What amazed me was almost every kernel that remained, more than half the cob, had sprouted. Thirty or so little lives all thrusting forth toward the sun. Go life! Go.

Hi, Grace. A wise guy once said:

“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’ ”

Go with Grace, and be kind.

Amature blogger, professional father

Yeah, this whole bog thing is kind of not happening. But I'm copping to the fact that for every post I don't make, I'm spending that time, rather than being ultra clever about the series of tubes, or politics, or technology, or copyright, or cooking, or entertainment, or whatever... I'm spending that time cracking up over or cracking up my kids.

I swear I'll do more of this someday. I do have opinions. Really I do. But I don't have a lot of time. And the time I do have, I tend to enjoy more with high pitched giggles bouncing about the house.

Maybe in the mornings, before the others wake, I can work it into my routine. But thus far, the giggles seem a better deal.

Tardy

So I haven't really posted anything in a while. Not so good at this "blog" thing.

Hang on someone's crying. Back in a moment. Probably.

Cheap

I had tried this spiffy blog hosting service that would have let me use our own URL and had crazy storage, yada yada. But, free is something we can better afford.

Kate lost her job a couple of weeks ago. Really, though that sounds bad, it's definitely a good thing, it was a toxic relationship. But since she was under contract, it's possible they could sue us. Meh. Even if they do, it's worth it to get her out of there. She also kept a journal so if they take us to court, at least we have some documentation.

Anyway, fortunately I just got a raise, and a promotion. It doesn't come near to replacing her income, but since she no longer has a 45 minute commute each way, and since we've cut day care to a couple of days a week, we should survive just fine.

So, here's the new journal.

Hi.
